Amazon is launching an AI tool to assist third-party merchants in promptly resolving account difficulties and retrieving sales and inventory information.
The business said on Thursday that it will first release the Amelia product in beta to a small number of American retailers before making it available to more people later in the year. It's an "all-in-one, generative-AI based selling expert," according to Amazon, and it's available through Seller Central, the company's internal dashboard for independent retailers.
In an attempt to cash in on the excitement surrounding OpenAI's ChatGPT, Amazon has released Amelia, its most recent generative AI tool, in the market in the last 12 months. The company has unveiled Bedrock, a generative AI service for cloud users, and Rufus, an AI-powered shopping assistant. Q is a chatbot for enterprises.
According to a recent report by CNBC, Amazon has announced intentions to include generative AI elements into its Alexa voice assistant. Additionally, the business has made its largest venture acquisition to date, investing billions of dollars in Anthropic, an OpenAI rival.
In an industry that is expected to generate more than $1 trillion in sales in the next ten years, Google and Microsoft have launched competing products in an effort to stay relevant.
Additionally, AI is becoming more widely used throughout Amazon's online store. The business has introduced AI tools for third-party sellers to assist them in creating listings and creating images for advertisements, and it now shows summaries of product reviews that are created by the technology.
With Amelia, Amazon hopes to use generative AI to assist with account issues, a major problem for third-party merchants. The organisation employs large teams that assist sellers in growing their businesses on the platform, handling inventory problems, and resolving account suspensions. For quite some time, merchants have lamented the challenges they experience in receiving prompt assistance or connecting with a human when unanticipated problems arise with their accounts.
