According to a CNBC story, Apple may introduce a linked ring by 2026 to compete with Samsung, strengthening its focus on health.
Apple is currently actively concentrating on health from devices like the Apple Watch with all of its sensors to the new AirPods Pro 2 headphones that can convert into hearing aids.
A smart ring is equipped with many sensors to monitor health indicators including heart rate, just as smartwatches.
Although Oura was one of the industry pioneers, Samsung's Galaxy Ring product this year opened up this kind of product to a wider market as it tries to expand into the health sector.
With a $399 price tag, the Samsung Galaxy Ring joins the South Korean tech giant's array of offerings, which already includes smartwatches and smartphones, in an attempt to lock people into its gadget ecosystem.
Apple uses a similar tactic with its line of goods in an effort to retain its existing loyal client base within its hardware ecosystem. Another item to add to that portfolio would be a ring.
In contrast to other consumer devices, rings provide a challenge from a retail perspective due to variations in finger sizes. Before making a ring purchase, customers receive a sample sizing kit from Samsung, which is available in a variety of hues and sizes.
However, unlike Samsung, Apple has a sizable and fashionable physical retail presence that would aid in any attempt to market and sell rings to consumers.
