Elon Musk claims the second generation Tesla Roadster will go on sale in 2025

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, announced on Wednesday that the company has finished the production design of a long-awaited upgrade to the Tesla Roadster and that it will probably begin shipping early in 2019.

In a string of remarks, Musk stated that Tesla intended to reveal the Roadster by the end of 2024 on the social media platform X, which he also controls.

Musk stated that Tesla has "radically increased the design goals" for the next model and that the revised Roadster was intended to reach 60 miles per hour in less than a second.

Musk said that SpaceX was working with them to build the new model.

Between 2008 and 2012, Tesla manufactured the first-generation Roadster, the first completely electric vehicle with a range of more than 244 miles between charges.

In 2018, Tesla also used a SpaceX rocket to send the model into orbit.

Since 2017, pre-orders for the second-generation Roadster have been available, with a starting price of $50,000.

The vehicle's delivery date has been continuously postponed from 2021 to 2023; the most current manufacturing date is estimated for 2024.

However, Tesla has lowered its manufacturing targets for 2024, citing a worse sales forecast and getting ready to revamp its present lineup of vehicles.
