Google Appeals to Trump Administration Over Search Engine Breakup Plan

Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL), the parent company of Google, has engaged with the Trump administration in an effort to dissuade them from moving forward with plans to break up its search engine operations. The meeting, which took place last week, was first reported by Reuters.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is actively pursuing two major antitrust lawsuits against Google, targeting its dominance in search and digital advertising technology. These cases form a crucial part of the government’s broader initiative to regulate large technology firms and promote fair competition.

A Google spokesperson addressed the matter, telling Reuters, "We regularly engage with regulators, including the DOJ, to discuss this case. As we’ve publicly stated, we believe the proposed actions could pose risks to both the American economy and national security."

Google has voiced concerns that dismantling its search engine operations could have far-reaching consequences, potentially disrupting economic growth and impacting national security interests in the United States.
