Google will bill large corporations AI costs $30 per user per month in Gmail and business applications.

Google said Tuesday that it will begin charging large corporations $30 per month for each user of its artificial intelligence-enhanced Gmail and other productivity tools.

The Duet AI technology, which might be made accessible in the first part of next year, will cost the same as Microsoft's 365 Copilot upgrades. Following the launch of OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot late last year, the two firms have been competing to include generative AI into more of their core businesses.

In addition to what businesses currently pay for their subscriptions to the productivity suites, there are additional costs. According to Google, businesses may sign up for free trials before purchasing subscriptions. According to Aparna Pappu, vice president and general manager of Google Workspace, the company hasn't finalised pricing for smaller businesses and individual customers.

Google started collecting preorders for Duet AI for Google Workspace in May but didn't make the information public, said Pappu. The cost was later disclosed by Microsoft in July.

Google is less dependent on business software than Microsoft since it derives the majority of its income from internet searches and other online advertisements. Along with Google's cloud computing infrastructure, workspace revenue is categorised under Alphabet's Google Cloud division. In the second quarter, the units worked together to generate $8 billion in sales. Office products and cloud services brought approximately $13.5 billion in revenue for Microsoft over the same time frame.

Google has been advancing. Workspace currently has 10 million paying subscribers, up from 9 million in March and 6 million in 2020, according to the business. Since they were unveiled earlier this year, the business claims that over a million users have tested the new AI capabilities through a "trusted tester" programme.

Users may enter a brief text prompt in Gmail and Google Docs and instruct Duet AI to generate a result. Images may be made in Google Slides by entering a few words of text that describe them. For people who are unable to participate in video conferences, Duet AI can also assist in constructing a project plan in Google Sheets and taking notes in Google Meet.

Google Workspace is used by more than 3 billion people worldwide. Pappu added stated that "Early next year", Duet AI for Google Workspace should be made available to consumers.
