Japan Airlines aircraft up in flames on the runway at Haneda airport in Tokyo

NHK, a broadcaster, has reported that a Japan Airlines aircraft was burning on a runway at Tokyo's Haneda Airport.

Approximately 400 individuals, comprising both passengers and staff, were on board, according to the broadcaster, but everyone managed to escape. It was yet unclear if anyone was hurt.

Although the exact origin of the incident is still unknown, it could have resulted from a collision between the JAL jet and a Japan Coast Guard vessel, which was taking off from Hokkaido's New Chitose Airport.

In NHK footage, firefighters could be seen extinguishing the fire when flames appeared close to the plane's engine area. The video indicated that the plane was almost completely destroyed by fire.
