Microsoft is set to create an AI hub in London as part of a new capital gain

As the city gets back to business, Microsoft is adding another boost by establishing a new AI facility in London.

Leading the artificial intelligence lab will be Jordan Hoffman, a former scientist at Google's DeepMind, with an emphasis on building technologies for customers.

It comes after Anthropic and OpenAI both declared they would be setting up offices in London in an effort to hire more European AI specialists for their workforces.

"There is an enormous pool of AI talent and expertise in the U.K., and Microsoft AI plans to make a significant, long-term investment in the region as we begin hiring the best AI scientists and engineers into this new AI hub," stated Mustafa Suleyman, co-founder of DeepMind and recently appointed head of Microsoft's AI consumer division.

"We will be advertising employment positions and aggressively seeking outstanding candidates who are eager to work on the most fascinating and difficult AI problems of our day in the upcoming weeks and months.

"We’re looking for new team members who are driven by impact at scale, and who are passionate innovators eager to contribute to a team culture where continuous learning is the norm."
