Ukraine Ready to Sign Minerals and Security Deal, Says Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that Ukraine is prepared to finalize a minerals and security agreement at any time, viewing it as a crucial step toward strengthening national security and ensuring long-term stability.

Zelenskyy: Ukraine Committed to Peace and Negotiations

In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Zelenskyy reaffirmed Ukraine’s commitment to achieving lasting peace. He emphasized that no nation desires peace more than Ukraine and that his government is ready to engage in negotiations as soon as possible.

“Our team is fully prepared to work under President Trump’s leadership to secure a lasting peace,” Zelenskyy stated.

Proposed Steps for Ending the War

Outlining the initial phases of his peace plan, Zelenskyy detailed key measures aimed at de-escalating the conflict, including:

  • Prisoner exchanges to facilitate humanitarian relief.
  • Aerial ceasefire agreement, prohibiting missile strikes, long-range drone attacks, and bombings on civilian infrastructure and energy facilities.
  • A maritime truce, contingent on Russia reciprocating de-escalation efforts.

Zelenskyy emphasized his commitment to swiftly advancing through all peace negotiation stages, collaborating closely with the U.S. to establish a strong and enforceable final agreement.

Gratitude for U.S. Support and Call for Constructive Dialogue

The Ukrainian leader expressed deep appreciation for America’s continued support in defending Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence. He specifically acknowledged the military assistance provided under President Trump, particularly the supply of Javelin anti-tank missiles, which played a vital role in strengthening Ukraine’s defense.

However, Zelenskyy voiced disappointment over a recent meeting in Washington, which did not go as planned. Despite this, he remains hopeful for constructive future cooperation, stressing the importance of resolving misunderstandings and fostering stronger diplomatic relations.

“It’s time to rectify the situation and move forward with open communication,” Zelenskyy urged.

What’s Next for Ukraine’s Security Agreement?

As Ukraine seeks to finalize the minerals and security deal, attention will be on how negotiations with the U.S. and other global partners unfold. Will this agreement pave the way for lasting peace and economic stability?
