The price of BofA’s shares has now broken higher and moved into a different area after Friday’s close, with the pre-market price at the moment trading at around $42.07 a share. After failing to break above the resistance of $41.44 on the 20th of September, the stock managed to find additional support at $38.72 which led to a momentum boost. As the earnings may fuel this breakout further, even as early as this week, investors will not be looking if the stock can return to its 2024 highs. This year’s high reads $44.39 and should now act as the key resistance point for the near term. Towards the downside, the previous resistance of $41.44 should now act as support this week. A break below it may create some concerns as it would suggest weakness, and perhaps worry some investors especially after Warren Buffet has been selling his shares recently in the stock. But even still, this would not indicate that a deeper decline is set to occur as there is a mini support base around $38.01-$38.72. Although this will be more clear following the earnings outcome. The technical indicators are both now clearly bullish, which in theory should drive the price higher as more buyers could rush in. However, the earnings can have more of an influence on price movement in the short term than technical analysis and momentum alone.
