Microsoft to open first regional data centre in Thailand

In an effort to increase the accessibility of cloud services in the region, Microsoft has announced that it will open its first regional data centre in Thailand.

Not so long ago, CEO Satya Nadella revealed a $1.7 billion investment in artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure in Indonesia.

The corporation released a statement saying, "Microsoft's hyperscale cloud services will be more widely available in the data center region."

According to Microsoft, the new data centre in Thailand is anticipated to enhance enterprise-grade dependability and performance as well as guarantee adherence to data residency and privacy regulations.

Srettha Thaivisin, the prime minister of Thailand, stated that the data centre is in line with the country's goals of becoming a center for the digital economy.

He said on social media that "Microsoft's investment is an important turning point in the development of Thailand's digital economy, increasing competitiveness," and that it will spur economic growth.

By 2025, Microsoft plans to have trained 2.5 million people in Southeast Asia in artificial intelligence.
